People usually make their representation to the audience on the podium for their business or education. Effective representation would change the life style of listeners and motivate them to do something. So, I want to tell you the story about how to build such a nice speech in the moment. There’re 8 steps to comprise it: housekeeping, hook, promise, theme, contents and information, take out, remind promise, and direction. Someone says that’s not enough but I convince that it would work and it includes the essential matters in speech. Then, detail in each factors follows.
Housekeeping
It’s a step for ready to representation. Give enough time to the audience so that they can be ready for listening. For example, allow them to go toilet or to arrange documents they’ve got. It helps them to converge on your speech from other bothering factors.
Hook
Let’s get inside to the speech. (That means the speech has been started) This is the first step that is to attract public attention. Generally a simple wit of humor or an anecdote would help. This step is not actually essential but it can be a great tool for sending messages more lively and vividly. Attention! If you make it with not-related to the speech, it could be a disaster.
Promise
Then, you can promise like this: “at the end of this presentation, you will …” It clarifies the aim of the speech. That is, it allows audience to take a space for thought. If there’s any person who gets out of the room, you may release them as they feel that they need not to listen to yours.
Theme
Now your customers start listening more carefully. And now is the time to draw the map for your representation. List themes to talk about and tell’em what to say about the topic. After doing that, introduction would end and the main speech would begin.
Contents and Information
Here’s main food of your dinner course. Explain what you’ve prepared for the speech in detail. Be care not to miss any theme you’d said in Theme section. The point is, your message should be with easily understood and clearly transferred. I won’t deal with it as it’s the problem of how to deliver your message well.
Take out
After long long tunnel, you’ve reached to the end of the speech. You may rewind the subject, each theme and brief it.
Remind Promise
Say the promise which you’ve said in the beginning of your speech again. And confirm that it has been realized by the address. You may be happy unless there’s any strict opposition against you.
Direction
Now, it’s time to check whether any change has been made. Lead them to act as you said. Don’t put them unknown about what to do next. A simple and directive statement would be better to choose to end your speech more clearly.
